Went to the Upull and found a 1993 Bronco with a 5.0 and an M5OD-R2 Manual Trans. The yard closed before I could cut the fuel line Jake Huitt and I forgot about, so Its sitting loose in the engine bay and We’ll go back when they open tomorrow to pick it up

Do you already have the kit for the truck?
![]() 04/21/2016 at 19:38 |

No, this is gonna be a very ling and drawn out project. Im getting the engine and trans, then rebuilding them both, then trying to fit it in the truck

Then, put some 5.0 Mustang badges on it so I can recognize you. Btw, cars and Thai coffee on Sunday morning in front of Pearl of Siam, 11am, I am planning on being there with the Abarth.

You mean you don’t know if it will even fit yet?

id say mock it up first then bolt it in for good after rebuild. buy all required hardware, and be sure to have a secondary vehicle while the project is being worked on.

Nice!
If you’re lucky it should already have a roller cam and HO firing order. A set of GT40 heads and intake (Explorer 5.0 parts) would really wake it up.

For the love of all things FoMoCo, bore that engine over and get a valve job done. I still wish I bored my 302 over when I rebuilt it. The peace of mind will be well worth the few hundred dollars at the machine shop. Do it right or do it twice. Plus, if you have issues after this install your parents are going to give you some raised eyebrows in the future on car projects.

Wait so how much are you paying for a 5.0 and trans?
![]() 04/21/2016 at 21:31 |

Full engine with accessories is $340 and the trans is $140

Wow. That’s impressive.
![]() 04/21/2016 at 21:59 |

That's awesome! Are you taking as much of the vehicles wiring harness as you can carry as well?

Only a rich person can afford to cut corners because only a rich person can afford to do it twice

I think I’ll be there. I’ll let you know if I go/what car I’m in.

Nope. It has the wrong ecu and a few other issues so were taking the engine wiring and leaving the body and ecu stuff. It all goes to a single connector that was easy to remove.
![]() 04/21/2016 at 22:34 |

Im taking the engine side of it. The ECU is coming out of a fox body so I'll need to rewire alot of it

No I know itll fit

Why are you using a different ecu?
I’m not an expert on these cars, but it seems like if it ran on that system before, why mess with it?

Nice work, Denver! Also glad you’re at that yard during the week, with a friend. That place gets... interesting... on the weekends.

Body harness differences. It’s a mess. Ford is so fun.

At the very least it might be handy for the extra wiring and connectors, unless you've got a bunch of that laying around already or there's a better donor
![]() 04/22/2016 at 00:45 |

I have a bunch of universal connectors and wire. The wiring and ECU is about $150, and just not worth the money if we can’t use the ecu.

Damn they want as much for that as the trans!
![]() 04/22/2016 at 00:51 |

Yep. It’s incredibly stupid. I have the facilities to help him with this so I don’t mind just making a custom adapter. It’s fairly easy and we’ll need to do it anyway.

Best of luck, it's a cool project!

Yes it is, thanks.

Yes it does. We’re going this morning to finish up before the craze.
![]() 04/23/2016 at 00:27 |

How’d it go? Successful, I hope?

Thanks for asking, very well.
Got it out in about an hour, now it’s sitting in my shop waiting for heads and a rebuild.
